Stamping Boutique - Monthly Challenge, FaceBook (November)

Hi all,

This is my 2nd post today. I keep forgetting to post.

Come back tomorrow for a sketch challenge post for FTHS!

Card Recipe ~ Ink: Prismacolor Pencils. Paper: PTI Kraft and Scrap DP. Ribbon: Stamping Up! Black and some sheet ribbon I got @ Hobby Lobby.  Three brads in the middle rounded it out.

Sooo. Stamping Boutique has a FB Page where they also host a Monthly Challenge.  The November Challenge was  - Use 3 brads, 2 designer papers, 1ribbon with any Stamping Boutique image. And I won the challenge. I'm excited.  I got to choose three images. So, go to the FB Page - Stamping Boutique. There, you can find info about the shop and Challenge Blog too.

I love this card. I'm going to make a few more.

Blessings All,

Em

A Little Horse... StampingBella

Card Recipe: Ink - Copics. Paper - PTI & Scrap. Flowers - The Paper Studios, Spare Parts, Glitter Gems. Ribbon: StampinUp!

So my cousin Laurie turned the big 6-0 this year. Um no, I didn't forget. Well, not technically. I remembered easily 100 times, I just forgot to send her a card or call.

I know - I hate when that happens. But honestly, it was such a great excuse to use this new StampingBella Image called Little Horse. HAHA! Check out the new blog for StampingBella too and go play in the challenge.  I always forget to, but so!

If you want to be in the know, you have to love Bella. Yes. Yes you do. Because I said so.

And now, I'm off to play with my new stamps that I just got today and work on my Christmas Cards so I can pretend to send them out on time.

Love & Hugs,

Em

Easy to Make - Advent Wreath

Happy Wednesday All!

I hope and pray your day is going well. I made our Advent Wreath this year, and I wanted to share it with you. I hope you like it:

From the top:

One more picture of the lit candle - this week:

Honestly, it was SUPER easy. Thank you HOBBY LOBBY!

I had been looking for ideas for spiffing up our Advent Wreath. We have one. But it's one we use yearly AND we wanted something different. And I'd been seeing all over Pinterest Advent Wreaths made from Mason Jars, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Materials Used:

  • Mason Jars (Free, I already had them).
  • Sprigs of fake greenery - $2.99 each/half off currently - 4
  • Purple Sparkly balls - $1.99 each/half off currently - 6
  • Silver floral embellishments - $2.99 each/Half off currently - 4
  • Pink/Purple/White Votive candles (Free, I already have boxes)
  • Wired Ribbon - $8/half off currently.
  • Glue Dots (Free, I already have them)
  • Wire Cutters and Scissors
What is that, like $20 bucks? Not bad, I guess.

How I did it:
  • Took wire cutters and cut the long stems off the greenery.
  • Reworked the greenery (like you do a fake Christmas tree, to get it to look like you want).Laid them on the platter, ends to the center.
  • I stuck the floral embellishments in the greenery where I thought I wanted them to go.
  • I put glue dots on ribbon and stuck it at the top of the mason jars, then cut some greenery/long silver ball strip (you see in the pic) and put it in each jar.
  • In the big jar, I filled it with a couple sparkly balls and some greenery, then I put a larger votive in the top with a ribbon around it.
  • I placed the votives in the jars, the jars on the platter - AND added extra ribbon.
  • The biggest part of my time was cleaning the glitter, etc. off our table (see the brush in the picture).
Our Advent Wreath and Jesse Tree take center stage on the Dining Table. That is where we eat dinner, during Advent.

This is the first time I've ever made one and I'm pleased. But I do think I have a more simplistic idea for next year. Rather than cut the greenery, i'll simply buy a wreath and stick the floral embellishments in it. Simple.

Blessings all.

I hope and pray you are enjoying your Advent.

October Challenge - The Stamping Boutique...

Hi all,

Are you as excited as I am. Two days in a row. YIP to the EEE! I love it when I have time to craft.

This is one of my favorite Fall Images. I'm not a BIG Halloween Lover, so this kind of image is about my speed! HA! Anyway.... on their FaceBook Group page, they host monthly challenges and fun things. And I played along this month.

Normally, I would have the challenge image in my post, but when I moved blog platforms I lost most images. So, I will just post my card:

Recipe:

Image:  I am using A Crowded Mash image from The Stamping Boutique.  The Sentiment: was in my box of stamped and printed sentiments (I kid you not, I have a box).  Ink: Image colored with Copics and LetraSet Markers. Background water-colored with Stampin Up! Ink and water color brush. I forget the name of it, and it's not on their site. I use mine all the time. It's a clear plastic pen-size tube filled with water, with a paintbrush at one end.  Paper: PTI White, Scrap DP, PTI Night Sky Shimmer Card Stock, PTI Purple Polka Dot Paper. Extras: Ribbon and Buttons.

You still have a few days to play along. Check out the group.

Blessings,

Em

i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #no.81

Happy Sunday Night all.

We have been BUSY with a capital B.... ok, make it all CAPS as you can see.

Anyway - I was so proud of myself that I'd done the sketch with a twist, only I did last weeks. So please go to the 2nd card if you are here fore #81. Here's the card I thought I was using until I figured out it was the wrong one......

Genius, Right? Sigh...

Well thanks to the super cool sketches, it's not so hard to whip something up. And so - please note, I made this card in less than 20 minutes. Sigh. It's NOT my best, but it is DONE - except for the part where I tried my puffy pens on the ribbon and I need to add a little dark purple back. ANywhoooo...

Please go visit From the Heart Stamps and check out all the entries to the i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #no.81

Here's the sketch image:

And here's my card:

Card Recipe:

Image - Gift Stack Birdbrain. Ink: Copics, Letrasets, Souffle Pens (which I will master some day). <3  Paper - PTI, Stampin Up, Scrap DP. Ribbon - Stampin Up and Scrap Ribbon.

And I used the same image in the first card that was last week's sketch. Sigh. Cute huh?

I hope and pray you all had a great weekend and a better week.

Kicking Off October with the Stamping Boutique

Happy October all you Crafty folks!

I hope and pray your day is going well. Mine is. It's early and I'm up blogging. We are about to start school too. YAY (I homeschool my child).

Anyway - I thought I'd share a couple cards I recently made from images by The Stamping Boutique. You might need some sunglasses, especially for the first one. It's so bright. lol

Recipe ~ Image Rose. Colored with Copic Markers. The sentiment is a stamp from Hobby Lobby, and the ink is Black Noir. Ribbon and paper are from PaperTreyInk. The DP is from my scrap pile. I love it. The Glitter Flowers are from K&Co (I think). I literally have all my small embellishments in a pink and while organizer. I should have written it down though. Anyway - I hope you like her. She makes me smile. In the inside, there is a BIG stamp of Happy Birthday!

Recipe ~ Image - Halloween Monster. Colored with Copic Markers. The paper is by PaperTreyInk. The DP is from Basic Gray (It's old, a pad called Eerie). The ribbon is from a ribbon club I was involved in at one point. And the sentiment cracks me up. My husband's idea. <3  Check out his eyes. I colored them and then put Glossy Accents over them. HA!

I hope these bright cards kicked your October off in a great way. I entered them both in challenges on TSB's Facebook Group Page. Join up and play along.

Love, Hugs & Blessings,

Em

September - Free Stamp of the Month Challenge

Happy Tuesday evening All!

Every month, From the Heart Stamps has a Free Stamp of the Month Challenge. If you play along, you get a stamp FREE (you know, budget friendly) AND you play along the next month. Easy Peasy!

I am linking up with them for this month's challenge using an image called Flappy Birthday Birdbrain. HERE is the challenge link.

This is such a cute stamp set. If you love it, you can purchase it HERE.

I feel a little rushed this week because of doctor's appointments and such. BUT I'm happy to say I got the card done and I'm reasonably happy with it. We are nearing Fall, but I thought I'd make one more bright and fun card for Summer/Spring. Sometimes you just need bright colors to uplift you. Pun intended. Ha ha.

Recipe: Image – Flappy Birthday Birdbrain. Ink ~ Copic Markers. DP is a combo of PTI Polka Dot Paper and  Scrap DP. I covered the balloon in stickles and I added ribbon and a pretty flower from K&CO.

I hope you like it. Check out the Challenge link above and look at all the other fantastic cards.

Happy Saturday Evening All!

We had a great visit from some friends earlier this evening. He's a long time friend of the family. He was my hubby's roommate in Iraq. Anyway - he brought his son over for a visit.  So of course, the 2nd card is from his son. And he even signed it! Well, he's 20 months old. So as much as they can sign.

Recipe: Image – Birthday Burger Birdbrain  Ink ~ Copics & white gel pen. Scrap DP. Dew Drops and that's about it. I modeled this after Sketch w/A Twist #63.

Recipe: Image – Super Birdbrain.  Ink ~ Copics & white gel pen. Scrap DP from Creative Memories (from the early 2000's.  The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.  I modeled this after Sketch w/A Twist #64.

Owl Be Here... Sweet & Sassy Stamps

Hi all,

I sure hope you are doing well. We are celebrating North Texas Giving Day here in Texas. And I have to brag for a second. My child has been giving to the Tarrant Area Food Bank since he was three. And so - he is a "hunger hero" and (and I loosely use this word) starring in a series of clips to pump folks up to GET UP AND GIVE!!!
  • Link to the TAFB's You Tube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC11iZoL8Ubplc780qzd3w_A

  • Link to give: https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/#npo/tarrant-area-food-bank
Oh and here is a picture of the Hunger Heros. Awww...

Ok - I know, that's not why you are here. Proud mommy moment!

Sweet & Sassy Stamps previewed their new stamps last week. So many great new stamps for Fall! They also challenged folks to create a Fall Card by today. If they get ten more (right now there are 15, they really want 25) entrants, they will give away two $10 credits to the store.  WOOHOO.

Here is my Fall Card. Since I made this, I did receive the stamps I ordered and will play with them soon and get some cards up here. But this is an older set called Owl Be There.

And here is a little close up of the image/sparkles:

Do you want to know something funny? I had no idea there was an Owl Die. I cut that out by hand. HA Dear heaven's Emily, way to work harder! lol Anywhooo....

Recipe for the card: I started with WaterColor paper by StampinUp. I took various ink colors and water colored the sunset. Then I stamped the trees from the Tree Top Stamps from PapertreyInk.  I used distressed inks for those trees. The tummy part of the owl, I cut from DP I have. I love how that turned out. I added stickler for the sparkle, twine & ribbon and a couple of buttons (that I just realized I didn't put thread in like I like to). The image is colored with Copic Markers and embellished with white gel pen.  The background is smeared with Stickles. Yes I did say smeared. LOL

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day ladies.

Blessings all!

My Daddy's Birthday Cards

Happy Tuesday all!

And Happy Birthday Daddy!  He won't likely see this post before his cards get there, so I'm ok with it.

This is my daddy. He's 78 years young this year. And you know what, we are so happy he's with us. Six years ago, on September 8th, he had a massive stroke, well several really. And I am just so happy he is with us. That sweet lady in the mirror reflection is my Aunt Janeen, his sister.  And I'm pretty sure Christopher sent him that shirt a couple of years ago.

AND look how great his cake is.  Christopher and I were supposed to go but we were sick. And I hate to drive to Houston without Marque. Sigh. I'm a big old baby, I guess.  But we missed the little party.

Anyway - on to the cards...

This is the card that Christopher chose for ME to send him (because he liked the pig one).

Recipe: Image - Birthday Burger Birdbrain  Ink ~ Copics & white gel pen. Scrap DP (in fact I received the DP in a box from a friend. I have no idea who made it. Same with the 2nd card). I embellished with ribbon & sparkly flowers (bought @ Hobby Lobby).

Recipe: Image - Hamlet PigWit Pig Out.  Ink ~ Copics, sakura sparkle pen,  & white gel pen. Scrap DP (in fact I received the DP in a box from a friend. I have no idea who made it. Same with the 2nd card). I embellished with ribbon & sparkly flowers (bought @ Hobby Lobby).

I hope you have enjoyed these cards and that your day is blessed.

Love, Hugs & blessings,

Emily

i {heart} card sketches w/ a tWiSt #no.78 - My entry.

Happy Sunday All.

This is my 2nd post today. I know - oh sure, you don't post for months and then you start posting two in a day? What the heck is up with that? Well - I really want to get back to crafting more. And I'm trying to use challenges to help with that.

So I am playing along with the i {heart} card sketches w/a twist #78  Here's the Sketch:

And here is my card. If you go look at the designers cards and then mine, you might be disappointed. But I don't sew on cards. Ok - I don't sew  - PERIOD! But I wanted to play along. AND I had colored this image called Winter Friends.  Isn't it cute. It makes me want Cocoa. And don't get me started on missing the North East. WAAAH. It was in the 70's for two days here and by tomorrow we will be back in the 90's. Winter is short here in North Texas. But a girl can dream.

The image was colored with Copics and embellished with white gel pen and sakura sparkly pens. I simply cut some layers and cut a few squares out of scrap DP, and added some ribbon from my scrap bin. Seriously - I say that a lot - but you all need to come over and see the bins I am talking about. IKEA loves me.  I have their modular system called Expedit and the large bins that fit into the mods are the ones I'm speaking of. HA!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday ladies. You still have a couple hours to play along.

Blessings All!

For The Bird{brains} Blog Hop - Designer Tutorial Link-up

Hi all,

From the Heart Stamps had a For The Bird{brains} Blog Hop Friday, September 5th. And we have until today to re-create a project using one of the Design Team's projects. For many reasons, Kathy Curry is my favorite Designer and I chose to recreate her project.

She created a wine tag - HERE! If you know Marque and I, you know we love good wine and other spirits too. We often give good wine as gifts... and so, this was a natural for me to want to recreate.

And here is her picture:

For my project, I did things a little differently. First, I used the Creative Memories Circle Set because it is easier. And I free cut the end of the tag. I also added color on the circle up top - mostly because I cut too big of a circle (just being honest). But in the end, it was one of those "mistakes" that wasn't! I love it like this.

Other than that, I mostly did the same thing.  I hope you like it.

The image I used for this project is Birdbrain Winter Scarf. LOVE IT!

A close up of the image.

And another shot of the tag on the bottle.

The image was colored with Copic Markers and embellished with white gel pen. The DP is from my scrap box. I used the Stampin UP Tag punches from 2006 or so (I think they have new ones now). And the Ribbon is a gold ribbon from my scrap ribbon bin. The button is from my stash and I used regular twine from WalMart (I know - super exciting).

I hope and pray your evening is going well.

You still have a few hours to play along for a chance to win $15.

Blessings,

Em

August FSOTM Pumpkin PigWit & Sketch #77 - From the Heart Stamps!

Happy Sunday Folks.

I actually, miraculously started and finished two cards.

I am going to link these up with the August Free Stamp of the Month @From the Heart Stamps AND the I {heart} Card Sketch with A Twist #77. Both of these cards were made using Pumpkin PigWit. Isn't he the CUTEST??? And the Twist is "think flowers power".

This first card is colored with Copic Markers. I sponged around the image with distress ink. The Circles were made my dipping a toilet paper roll in gold and silver ink and stamping them on the black card stock (PTI). I embellished with Prima Flowers & Washi Tape.

I colored this with colic markets. And sponged on some distressed ink. I cut a circle out with my Creative Memories Circle Maker AND cut the circle in half. HA!   I embellished with Prima Flowers and ribbon by PTI. Brown Card stock is also PTI. The striped DP is from American Craft (it was in my scrap box).

Here is the sketch that was created. I'm editing this in after the fact because I left it out.

I am not very good at Circles. I am unsure why.  Making a card with circles makes my head hurt. Again - not sure why. lol  So I think my circles, though unique, still meet the requirement. I hope so. lol

I hope to be more active in posting on this site. I hate how neglected it is.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs & Prayers,

Em

From the Heart - Freebie Challenge! YAY I did it.

Happy Friday evening folks.  Um - I feel like I should say "Hi, my name is Emily and it's been ___ days since I've made a card".... only it will be a couple months. SIGH

Yesterday, I finally was able to sit for a moment and make the card for the January Stamp of the Month Challenge over at From the Heart Stamps.  The Image is called Caught your Heart. Isn't it cute?

Paper ~ PTI White & PTI Kraft
DP ~ Doodlebug Design, Inc. Sweetheart Pad
Image ~ Colored with Copics and Letraset ProMarkers
Ribbon ~ I'm not sure where I got it anymore. I think Limelight Papercrafts
Image and Sentiment Caught Your Heart (link above)
Flowers ~ Prima Flowers (I have a vat of flowers and I believe Kathy Curry sent me those polka dotted ones.)

I used to be on Faith's Design Team when the company was D2D and I sure miss those girls. I need to play along more.  If any of you are looking at this... know you still inspire me.

Blessings ALL!
